In fewer than 100 words, what is your one biggest fear about being a tutor in the Reading-Writing Center? If fear is too strong a word, what are you most apprehensive about? Or to dull it even further, what are you most unsure about?
My biggest fear is giving bad advice. I don't ever want to end up disappointing a student by giving them advice that leads to a poor grade, and its definitely my biggest point of anxiety about the process. I don't even know how you would go about fixing giving someone bad advice, or how to handle that situation in general.
What strategies do you plan to employ to overcome the fear/apprehension/uncertainty described in your answer to question 1?
I guess greater confidence and keeping the advice as on-task as possible, as well as keep in mind that we aren't the instructors, we aren't the ones grading, so there will always be a level of 'unknowing' involved. In addition, learning as much about the assignment as possible will help keep my advice more geared towards what the instructor is expecting.
